dc.description.abstractThis study explores the role of local stakeholders’ collaboration for the goal of improving child trafficking prevention outcomes in Wolitta zone two woredas of Damot Gale and Damot Woyde. The idea of local stakeholders’ collaboration role organized for the aim of preventing child trafficking may generate the collaborative efforts. However little is known about how diverse local stakeholders engage in the collaboration. A local stakeholders’ collaboration role is potential strategic mechanism to prevent child trafficking. The design of this study is explorative qualitative and consisting interviews and FGD; and the analysis focused on the thematic areas of the findings. The findings reveal the key local stakeholders, the respective role of local stakeholders, the benefits of collaboration, and the challenges encountered in ensuring collaboration among stakeholders in preventing child trafficking. The findings show the weak collaboration of local stakeholders such as failure to share the annual plan, failure to conduct review meeting, lack of joint monitoring and failure to identify challenges in order to bring solutions accordingly. The research suggests implications for collaborative effort in preventing child trafficking; and the future direction for the local stakeholders’ collaboration, including the emphasis on the greater consideration of the role of local stakeholders’ collaboration within and across and the mechanism of stakeholders’ collaboration benefit in the prevention of child trafficking. A new model for stakeholders’ collaboration in response for prevention of child trafficking draws from the findings of this study.
