Abstract
Performance is thus about the way the task is accompli shed and the result achieved
(outputs). The way input s (resources ) arc utilize d and the ex tent to which outputs (results) are
achieved at in situational level designates organizational performance, which the reform, is best
explained in what and how an employee in the structure is expected to get tasks geared and
accomplished towards the organizational goals. The pattern a task is accompli shed and the
results achieved thereby haws through and within different interacting and interrelated sets
of activities that constitute a system i.e . performance system. The contemporary period of
increasing global competition has put more focus on effectiveness that the systems and
processes in the organization be applied in the right way to the right thing:

appraisal In effective organizations, goals are agree d and work is planned routinely,
progress is measured and feedback is communicated. And this study draws on effectiveness
in appraising the performance of employees for a continuous improvement of organizational
performance in the Ethiopian radio and Television Agency (ERTA). It focuses on how
effective performance appraisal in improving the performance of employees in ERTA and
in achieving and operational goals. ,
The methods of participant observation and liker-type questionnaires arc the preferred
Methods to collect data from primary sources, and the required data regard in g factors that
contribute: to effectiveness of the performance appraisal system arc obtained. Accordingly,
that indicates that the system in the agency is ineffectively implemented.
