dc.description.abstractThis study examines public service leadership style and organizational performance in public organization in Ministry of Finance. The study used quantitatively and qualitatively approach with descriptive linear regression method to determine the effect of leadership styles on organizational performance. The data were collected using Multi-factor Leadership style Questionnaire (MLQ) and Organizational Performance Questionnaire. The multi leadership styles of transformational, transactional and laissez faire were considered with organizational performance (OPQ).The population of the study is comprised 164 staffs of Ministry of Finance (MOF). Simple random sampling techniques was used in this research. Both Descriptive and Inferential statistics were applied and the major statistical tools used were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, an independent samples t-test, Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis To this end, transformational leadership explained 56.3% of variance of organizational performance. The findings of the study revealed that transformational leadership style has significant and positive correlations with affective and continuance on organizational performance. Finally, it was recommended that leadership Development Strategies should focus over all communication plan development, working environment commitment and motivation needed to equip the entire staff. The strategy needs to show the direction towards criteria to compete for the Public service leadership and organizational performance in public organization, array in Ministry of Finance. Lastly the study identified area for future research.en_US
