dc.description.abstractProcurement of locally produced food commodities from local source for food aid provides much greater net benefits both for humanitarian agencies, small-scale farmers, Farmers organizations and the host government, For humanitarian agencies such scheme could help in reducing transportation costs and other expenses that would be used to import from abroad, This study therefore carried out to assess major internal and external challenges that affect procurement of aid food from local sources by selected humanitarian organizations. With a Specific focus on World Food Program (WFP ) , National Disaster Risk Management Commission of Ethiopia ( EDRMC ) and Catholic Relief Service ( CRS ) to identify procurement practices , major internal and external challenges that affect performance of procurement of aid food from local sources The study attempt make analysis on procurement practice and its challenge of aid food from local sources, It specifically attempted to collect information regarding challenge in locally purchased aid food grains, undertaken an analysis of the major problems and constraints in the supply chain of locally purchased aid food grains Primary data collected using a purposive non probable sampling techniques and key informant interviewed for the sole purpose of this assessment, a mixed research approach and descriptive research design , are major methodologies employed in the study process, data analyzed to have a theoretical conclusion while each of them employs several components and process. Findings of the study indicated that both internal and external factors have a significant impact on procurement performances of aid food from local sources Key Words: price volatility, joint venture, speculation, integrated pest management,
