dc.description.abstractChildren vulnerabi li ty in Ethiopia in general, Addis Ababa in part icu lar increases from time to time due to various reasons such as death of their biological parent's by diseases, war, famine, unwanted pregnancy and poverty. When children face such problems, using different methods to support those vulnerable children like community-based support, foster care, inter country adoption, insti tutional care and domestic adoption can minimize the vulnerability of children. Therefore, the study was conducted to assess the contribution of domestic adoption in minimizing children vulnerability in Addis Ababa. The overall objective of the study was to in vestigate the contribution of domestic adoption in minimizing the Vulnerability of children in Add is Ababa city. The study used both primary and secondary information. The primary information was collected from IOdomestic adoptive parents and 3governmental and non-governmental organizations experts/key informants/ using in-depth interv iew and observation of the general situations of the adoptive children. The Finding indicated that the main pushing factor for adopting children were childlessness, need to support a child, the need to have a diversified sex and to increase the adoptive parent/sf fami ly size. The parti cipants of the study revealed that local households have recognized the importance of domestic adoption over inter country adoption as it helps the adopted chi ldren to be raised within the environment and culture. Findings of this study showed that domestic adoption have significant contribution in minimizing vulnerabil ity of children.
