Access to essential medicines is a critical component of universal health coverage. However availability of essential medicines is poor in countries like Ethiopia. Therefore a descriptive cross sectional case study was employed to obtain data about availability challenges through document review, questionnaires and key informant interviews. Then data was cleaned and entered using SPSS version 20. The results were illustrated using tables and percentages. Drug availability was highest (100%) at Jawi while storage condition was the poorest at Nguyiel (17.6%) during the assessment period. Stock out rate was moderate at Tierkidi health center. In general the overall availability of essential drugs in refugee camps were affected by transportation, inventory control, human resource shortages and demand supply uncertaintiesen_US
