Abstract
The purpose of this research was to assess the effect of procurement management on projectsuccess at the JSI projects, specifically, to know the procurement planning practice of JSI and its
effect on project success; to know the practice of conducting procurement at JSI and its effect onproject success and to know the procurement control and closeout practice of JSI and its effect
on project success. A descriptive research design was engaged as the intention of this study wasto examine the effect of procurement management on project success at JSI projects. Mixed
research approach that involves collecting, analysing and integrating quantitative andqualitative was employed in this research. The total population in the study was 30 and all 30
people in the project and home office were enumerated for the study; hence, the census method isused. Respondents for the interview were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Datavia questionnaires were collected by employing 5-point Likert scale type of questionnaire, andcollected data were examined using SPSS package. Descriptive and inferential data analysistechniques were used. Findings reveal that while JSI defines procurement requirements, it oftenlacks detail, and market research outlined in the Supply Chain Mangers Handbook are not fullyimplemented. Although bid advertisements are effectively executed online, the absence of bidderconferences limits information distribution, potentially affecting bid quality. The inferentialanalysis conducted in this study reveals a positive and significant correlation between thecomponents of procurement management—planning, conducting, and controlling—and projectsuccess. Regression analysis further confirms that these independent variables significantlyinfluence project success. Recommendations include enhancing documentation clarity,
conducting market research regularly, recognizing the value of bidder conferences, andexpanding advertisement platforms to improve outreach. By addressing these gaps, JSI can
enhance procurement efficiency, and ultimately improve project success.
