| dc.description.abstract | This research extensively delves into the complex notion of culture, highlighting its multifaceted character, including thought patterns, behaviors, and material aspects that shape the way of life of a people. Focusing on Ethiopia, a country renowned for its rich diversity of cultures, languages, and ethnicities, the study aims to thoroughly examine how the media, particularly the Oromia Broadcasting Network (OBN), covers and advocates for the cultural festivals of Irreecha and Fichee Chambalaalla. The objectives involve scrutinizing OBN's representation of ethnic cultural practices, identifying the portrayal of ethnic cultural values within the media organization, and exploring the challenges encountered by the media in covering and promoting these cultural events. Research questions delve into the strategies employed by the media to promote these festivals, prevailing trends in their coverage, the media's role in fostering understanding at national and international levels, and how media representations reflect the cultural values of the Oromo and Sidama people. | |
