The focus of this research was on the Experience and challenges that teacher’s encounter while teaching physical education (PE) in primary schools in the Gulalle sub-city of Addis Ababa. Data were gathered via surveys, interviews, and secondary sources using a mixed-methods approach with an explanatory design. Utilizing simple random and purposive sampling methods. The sample included 240 individuals (223 teachers, 6 pupils, and 11 key informants) from all 7 primary schools. Quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS 26, whereas qualitative data analyzed thematically. According to the data, lesson quality is impacted by inadequate equipment and poorly maintained facilities, which limit creative teaching and raises safety concerns. It was difficult to implement differentiated instruction across different class sizes, which might lead to boredom and disengagement among students. Variations in professional development opportunities led to inconsistent teaching practices, and ongoing training was deemed ineffective in promoting innovation. Low scores on time allocated for skill development and curriculum coverage highlight difficulties in delivering comprehensive Physical Education. To highlight the value of high-quality Physical Education, the study advises boosting funding for equipment and facility upkeep, creating feedback mechanisms to improve training, and encouraging a culture of advocacy among educators, stakeholders, and parents. These actions can promote policy changes and improve program efficacy, resulting in a physical education program that is safe, exciting, and equitable for all students
