Assessment of the Major Impacts of Threatening Factors of Wildlife in Awash National Park Afar Eastern Ethiopia

Abstract

Awash National Park was initially established in 1966 E.C and officially launched as a protected area in 1969 E.C; the study took place from September to Augest 2017 E.C. The park experienced a variety of threats, both natural and artificial as indicated by numerous reviews. The current study identified many different threat factors, focusing on the assessing their causes, commonalities, and major impacts of the threat factors on the Wildlife through the collection of quantitative and qualitative data, using primary and secondary data collection methods. Sixity key pieces of information were gathered rom respondents using nonproportional stratified and purposive sampling techniques.The study highlighted the comman causes, the comman, and major impacts of the threatening factors, with overgrazing, and charcoal production being identified as the most severe, followed by demands of Agricultural land , firewood house building, and car accidents. The study aims to help identifying major common causes of impacts of threat factors and ways to reduce the impacts of thus threatn factors with the collaboration of the Ethiopian government, EWCA, and the local communities. Generally, all the threat factors were interconnected by alarmingly increasing of human population that derives all the threat factors. Therefore using family planning was one of a solution to reduce the driving force of all threat factors.
