This study identified the risk factors in each project phases or process groups of IS projects in ethiotelecom. The researcher used descriptive research method. Risk factors were identified by interviewing project managers and project team members, project document analysis, and by reviewing other research works. Structured questionnaires with Likert type was used for severity level analysis on different project phases of IS projects. This study is significant to a larger extent to project implementers, users, and venders to identify and prioritize risk factors while the projects are initiated, Planned, launched, monitored, and closed. Moreover, it can be used as an input for further study on risk management of the company. The findings of the study indicated that the average severity of identified risk factors is found to be different on different project phases. On average, there is lower severity on scoping phase and M&C phase, where as there is higher impact on Closing, Planning, and launching project phases. Moreover, except for few risk factors which affect all the project phases similarly, every project phase is affected differently by different risk factors. Risk factors which have considerable impact on each project phase and hence the project as a whole were identified and prioritized through experts, experienced project team members, and project managers. It is therefore, worthwhile and effective to conduct continual risk identification, prioritization and treatment with in each project phase so as to avoid the underline gap in project progress or achieving the objectives of project deliverablesen_US
