dc.description.abstractThe study has been conducted with the aim of investigating the skill profile of business graduates coming out of Addis Ababa University, the direct and indirect effects of skills on graduates’ employability. This study adopts a deduction approach and a quantitative method as the research methodology. Accordingly, a questionnaire was distributed to 242 recent graduates and 135 HR professionals, of which 206 and 110 were collected with a response rate of 81% and 85% respectively. The study employed exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. The measurement fulfills construct validity and reliability. Empirical findings of the study showed that generic skills have a positive and direct effect on employability. Subject Understanding has a positive and direct effect on graduate employability. Personal Qualities have a positive and direct effect on employability and Metacognition has a positive and direct effect on the employability of the graduates. Counter to prior expectations, Subject understanding has a positive and direct effect on employability. Moreover, the finding indicated personal qualities and metacognition mediate the relationship between subject understanding, generic skills and employability.en_US
