Some of the samples of Ethiopian traditional alcoholic beverages namely ‘tella’, ‘tej’ and ‘areki’ collected from different parts of Addis Ababa were analyzed for their alcohol contents. The alcohol contents of ‘tella’ and ‘tej’ were analyzed by adopting the method of determination of ethanol level in beer. The alcohol content of ‘areki’ was determined by using an alcoholometer. The average ethanol content (%v/v) of the traditional alcoholic beverage was found to be 6.36, 11.47, and 37.22 for ‘tella’, ‘tej’, and ‘areki’, respectively.en_US
