| dc.description.abstract | This research examines damage as a legal remedy for human rights violations in Ethiopian law. The research employs a doctrinal and non-doctrinal research method, utilizing primary and secondary legal sources to explore the legal framework governing damages for human rights violations in Ethiopia. The research explores the legal framework governing damages for human rights violations. The findings reveal that Ethiopia has made a progress in addressing human rights violations by establishing a human rights criminal bench court that effectively awards compensation to victims. However, despite this progress, challenges exist such as limited awareness and understanding of the right to damage as a remedy, inadequate legal framework, lack of institutional capacity, and impact on victims. This research emphasizes the need to address these challenges and proposes measures to enhance public awareness, improve access to legal aid, strengthen the legal framework, and ensure victim protection throughout the legal process. | |
