dc.description.abstractEthiopia is facing rapid urbanization leading to overcrowding and the development of slums and informal settlements with poor waste management practices. The overall objective of this study was to assess households` knowledge, attitude and practice of solid waste management in Gelemso town, West Hararghe Zone, Oromia Reginal State, Ethiopia. The study was used both the quantitative and qualitative research approach based on the research objectives and research questions. The data was collected from questionnaire survey; it was analyzed using the computer software known as Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) 21 version. Descriptive statistics was used to analyze the data. The result showed that most of the respondents (82.9%) had good knowledge and 67.8% of them had positive attitude on solid waste management but their practice was somehow weak. To create a sustainable solid waste management practice in the town, the municipality and other stakeholders should work strongly.en_US
