Abstract
The study examined the influence of participatory monitoring and evaluation on project performance in the case of the DEC Kefta Project. Specifically, it assessed the influence of stakeholder participation in M&E planning, M&E result utilization, and M&E data collection and analysis on project performance. The study employed a quantitative research approach with a cross-sectional survey design. The target population of the study comprises participants from both governmental and non-governmental organizations that are involved in the Kefta project. The data were gathered from 43 participants using the census sampling technique through a self-administered questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS version 20 software, employing both descriptive (i.e., frequency, mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (i.e., Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression analysis). The finding of the study indicates that stakeholder participation in M&E planning, M&E result utilization, and M&E data collection and analysis have positive and moderately significant relations with project performance. This implies that stakeholder participation in the M&E process has a positive influence on project performance. Based on the findings of the study, the researcher recommends the company to increase stakeholder participation across the M&E process for higher project performance. Furthermore, future studies should be undertaken to see the impact of stakeholders’ participation in M&E across various regions where the Kefta project is implemented.
