The Effect of Emotional Intelligence on Job Satisfaction: Case of Commercial Banks in Ethiopia
(A.A.U, 2020-02) Tilahun, Kassaye; Teklu, Tilahun (Dr.)
This study examined the relationship between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction among commercial bank branch managers in Ethiopia. Using a basic random selection approach, a total of 262 out of 270 randomly selected commercial bank branch managers were used as a sample for this research. The study was correlative, descriptive, and explanatory in nature, and survey research was employed to obtain data from participants. Mean, standard deviation, Pearson's product-moment correlation, and multiple linear regression were used as statistical techniques. The findings revealed a moderately favorable relationship between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction. Furthermore, there was a somewhat favorable connection between all sub-dimensions of emotional intelligence and work satisfaction, which was also positive. Furthermore, five characteristics of emotional intelligence were shown to be important predictors of job satisfaction: managing relationships, emotional stability, self development, integrity, and altruistic conduct. As a result, it is critical to focus on techniques that enhance emotional intelligence among commercial bank branch managers.
