    Clinical Presentation and Management outcome in Acute Heart Failure Patients at Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital, Ethiopia

    Background: - Acute heart failure is the most common cause of emergency presentation wit dyspnoea. It is one of the common causes of emergency department mortality. Acute heart failure patients commonly presented with dyspnoea, orthopnoea and paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnoea. Objective: - To assess the clinical presentation and management outcome of acute heart failure patients presented at emergency department of Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 2023. Methods: - A hospital-based retrospective cross-sectional study design was employed with atotal of 235 patients’ chart which was selected using a systematic random sampling technique.Data were entered into Epi Data version 4.6 and exported to SPSS version 27 for analysis.Binary logistic regression was used to identify factors associated with mortality of acute heart failure patients. And variables with p value< 0.05 were considered to be statistically significant.The findings of study were presented using statements, tables, and figures. Results: A total of 235 patients’ medical record were reviewed. More than half 137(58.3%) of patients were females. The median age of the participants was 39 years (IQR 27 to 58).Emergency department mortality of AHF patients was 14% with 95% CI (9.4-18.7). Diastolic blood pressure less than 60 mmHg, paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnoea, cardiogenic shock and comorbidity were significant factors associated with emergency department mortality of acute heart failure patent at p-value<0.05 with AOR (95% CI, 4.13, 1.5- 11.2), (95% CI,3.3, 1.3- 8.5),(95%CI, 6.4, 1.12-19.3), (95% CI, 4.8,1.3-18.2) respectively. Conclusion and Recommendation: This study showed that mortality in acute heart failure patients was high. Diastolic blood pressure less than 60 mmHg, presence of comorbid conditions and cardiogenic shock were significant factors associated with mortality in acute heart failure patients. Greater emphasis is recommended to reduce emergency department mortality of acute heart failure patients. Interventions related to acute heart failure mortalityfactors is recommended

    A Descriptive Cross sectional Study on Job Satisfaction among Emergency Department Staff Working in Addis Abeba University Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital,Addis Abeba Ethiopia,2019.

    Background:Job satisfaction is the degree to which employees have a positive affective orientation towards employment by an organization. By studying job satisfaction, it is possible to understand the current facts and present constructive solutions for any solvable problem. Objective: To assess job satisfaction among nurses, residents and emergency physicians and to analyze the relationship of job satisfaction with demographic and professional characteristics in adult emergency department, Tikur Anbessa Hospital, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia during the time of April1,2019 to july,30 2019 Methodology:we performed a descriptive, cross-sectional study in an ED in Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital. Job satisfaction was evaluated by means of the Modified Font-Roja questionnaire. Multivariate analysis determined relationship between the overall job satisfaction and the variables collected. Results: Fifty-four nurses, 25 residents and 5 Emergency physicians were included. Residents are more satisfied than nurses and specialists 3.31±1 Vs 3.36±1 (p<0.05) and 3.34±1 (p=0.41) respectively. Multivariate analysis showed the following variables to be associated with overall job satisfaction: educational level :( OR2.33 [95%CI 0.462–4.19]; p < 0.032), distance from home (OR 0.422 [95%CI 0.213–0.631]; p < 0.046) and monthly income (OR 0.79 [95%CI 0.25–1.33]; p < 0.012). Conclusions: The findings of this study highlight that job satisfaction of ED healthcare professionals as a whole is low, being nurse, long distance from the hospital and low monthly income are factors associated with low job satisfaction. Conversely, interpersonal relationships are identified as strength.

    The Role of Project Management Office Support In Achievement of Project Success: In the Case Of Ethiopian Water Work Design and Supervision Enterprise

    Project management office has been broadly acclaimed to be a critical success factor forsuccess of projects. The objective of this study was to identify those project management officerole dimension that have the greatest effect on project success and to examine whether thesedimensions are actually in place on study organization Projects. Though the Project Success assessment survey questionnaire and Project Management office role questionnaires, linearregression analysis (N=66) were conducted. The findings of this quantitative study supported the research hypotheses and demonstrated that; a significant, positive relationship does existbetween “Multi-projects management” and “development of project management methodologies and competencies” with project success. In contrast, insignificant and negativerelationship exists between “monitoring and controlling on project performance” “organizational learning” and strategic management with project success. This researchexplored a cause-and-effect relationship of project success and project management office role dimensions. The findings do imply that project success might be improved by improving projectmanagement office support role on two significant dimensions. The researcher recommends that to enhance the success of project that the organization practice on monitoring&controlling on project performance, strategic management and organization learning .Further to use agile project management for projects.
