Item Mitigating Evasion Attacks and Minimizing False Positives in Ann Via Adversarial Noise Injection(Addis Ababa University, 2026-02) Meron Yohannes; Fitsum AssamnewIntrusion Detection Systems (IDS) is important in ensuring computer networks are not subjected to cyber threats. Nevertheless, adversarial evasion attacks are resistant to artificial neural networks that drive most of the contemporary IDS. Minor and strategically determined perturbations obtained through the algorithms like Fast Gradient Sign Method and Projected Gradient Descent may be used to alter the characteristics of network traffic to make a model wrongly label malicious activity as normal. This is a critical security threat, and attackers will be able to evade detection measures without a major change in traffic patterns. This thesis presented a new resilient ANN model that is trained with adaptive noise injection to achieve high levels of robustness against adversarial attacks with a low false positive rate. The proposed model was incorporated into SNORT intrusion detection system and tested by CIC-IDS2017 data under a clean and adversarial traffic. It was experimentally discovered that the proposed model with 99.85 percent detection accuracy, robustness against FGSM and PGD attacks and low false positive ratio of 0.15 percent appeared over 2.27 million samples. The resilient model showed a better stability when subjected to adversarial conditions and overall high performance in comparison with the baseline ANN and original SNORT ML model. These findings confirm that the adaptive noise injection provides a practical and effective solution for deploying adversarialresilient intrusion detection systems in real-world environments.Item The Effect of soft skill in Information System project success: The Case of Commercial Bank of Ethiopia IT Projects(Addis Ababa University, 2024-09) Meron Yohannes; Wasihun Mohammed (PhD)The objective of the study paper was to find the Effect of Soft skill training on Information System Project Success, in the case of Commercial Bank of Ethiopia IT projects. Soft skills are the new demand of HRs in all the corporate, public, commercial banking sectors. These skills represent an organized and well-mannered reflection of human. The study is conducted in CBE, one of the largest and oldest banking industry in Ethiopia. An explanatory research design with a quantitative approach was used in the study to better understand and examine the phenomenon. A Likert scale questionnaire survey via google form was used to obtain primary data from samples drawn from the target population. A valid and reliable of 150 questionnaires were distributed via email; 110 of them were fully completed and returned. The hypothesis that soft skill training (Leadership, communication, team work) has significant and positive relationship with the project success. The result of the study reveals that the relationship between leadership skill and project success is significant and positive. The data was statistically analyzed using IBM SPSS software version 27.0.1. The research examines how soft skills affect the project outcomes. A positive and significant relationship was observed between leadership skills and project success, with a correlation coefficient of 0.600 at a 95% confidence level, indicating a strong correlation. Communication skills also showed a positive and significant relationship with project success, with a correlation coefficient of 0.177 at a 95% confidence level, denoting a moderate correlation. Similarly, the relationship between teamwork skills and project success was positive and significant, with a correlation coefficient of 0.128 at a 95% confidence level, suggesting a moderate correlation. Overall, the study concluded that these three soft skills significantly influence project success in CBE, with leadership skills being the most influential, followed by communication skills, and then teamwork skills.
