    The diagnosis of PE is made based on high blood pressure and proteinuria after 20 weeks of gestation of pregnancy in previously normotensive women. The best combined first trimester screening studies for PE is one that includes maternal risk factors, measurements of mean arterial pressure (MAP), serum placental growth factor (PLGF), and uterine artery pulsatility index (UTPI).
