Item Assessment of ERP Post Implementation Success at Habesha Breweries S.C(Addis Ababa University, 2020-09-16) Bogale, Bereket; Hailemariam, Getachew (PhD)Information Systems (IS) success is one of critical achievements of organizations for it has high impact on the business operation. Information is a key asset of any company; the success of the Information system management will also determine the success at the corporate level. And ERP is the application to manage and process this information that runs in the business operations. Enterprise resource planning (ERP) system is a set of integrated software modules with a central database that enables a company to manage and control the use of its information resources. The benefit of implemented ERP system to an organization needs to be known and measured so that appropriate & timely measures can be taken for performance improvement. This research investigates the post-implementation success status of ERP at HBSC by adopting Delone and Mclean’s updated IS success model as a theoretical research model for assessment. Based on the six success dimensions from model construct, a set of research Hypothesis were formulated to be tested using the quantitative data that is collected from the active ERP users of HBSC. The target population are 135 active users, the researcher chose to census over sampling and sent the questionnaire to all users using online survey application. 68 participants (50%) respond to the survey. An exploratory quantitative research approach was applied, and the collected data was analyzed using statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS V23) software. Based on the collected response reliability test was done using Cronbach's Alpha test and the results shows high reliability of all used measures, where Cronbach's Alpha exceeds 0.7. Hypothesis embedded in the research model were tested using correlation, regression, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The Finding of the study indicates the Pearson coefficient correlation analysis test provides empirical support for the existence of a positive and significant association between the dimensions of ERP success model to some extent. The result of Stepwise regression shows that Information quality, System Use and Net Benefit explain 55.7% of the variance occurs in User satisfaction. The determinants of User satisfaction explain 20.7% of the variance in System Use, and the determinants of User Satisfaction explains 37.9% of the variance in the Net benefits. The study result indicates Information Quality, System use, User satisfaction and Net benefit have a significant positive influence on the ERP success at HBSC. This study followed quantitative approach to identify the most determinant ERP success factors which are derived from the conceptual model based on the updated McLean and Deleon’s IS success model undergoes empirical testing on the Hypothesis formulated. The researcher recommends that the Habesha Breweries S.C management consider improvement on the identified determinant success factors for better ERP system utilization. Furthermore, practical implications to HBSC, and future studies were highlighted.Item Design and Develop a Web Based Pharmacy Management System for ALERT Hospital(Addis Ababa University, 2017-01-04) Mazengia, Tadesse; Hailemariam, Getachew (PhD); Ayele, Wondmu (PhD)Pharmacy management System in developing countries lags seriously behind as we compared to the developed countries and the existing pharmacy drug management system is not enough to support pharmacy management functions. This project give more emphasize on pharmacy management system which involve activities like drug registration drug dispensing and expired drugs in pdf format. The researcher used interview, document review and observation for data collection and fact finding. The participant of the project was pharmacists and druggist who are working at the pharmacy. The researcher also used tools for developing the system like Microsoft Visio, MySQL, ASP.Net and Model View and Controller (MVC). The project is aimed at designing and developing pharmacy management system. The major aim is in improving accuracy and enhances safety and efficiency in the pharmacy. It is obvious that management is one of the most important characteristics of all forms. Patient centered pharmacy management system promotes rational use of medication and has paramount importance in a resource limited setting. The project revealed that well organized pharmacy management system within the hospital leads to well documented and improved optimization of medication use. This system improves the hospital pharmacy management system by adding some features like: The user of the system can easily access. Patient safety will be improved with the automation of drug dispensing. Patient experience is enhanced as the automation of the labor intensive tasks reduces their waiting time. For health care institution it reduces cost and improves efficiency. It improves hospital safety by reducing the potential for medication errors.Item Information System Strategy Development Framework for Commercial Bank of Ethiopia(Addis Ababa University, 2020-06-08) Mulat, Dereje; Hailemariam, Getachew (PhD)ISS benefits firms to advance and grow their universal strategies in order to accomplish modest advantages. ISS discourses the delivery of IS competences, capitals and amenities such as systems expansion, IT procedures and user care. It is an iterative route to align IS/IT competence with corporate desires. However, strategy gap has seemed to be an anxiety for researchers and practitioners due to business changing aspects and complexities both in developed and developing countries over the latter era. The incapability to understand value from IS venture and incapability of IS funds to deliver the planned business value is due to strategy gap of organizations. Specifically, in the case of Ethiopia the banking sector has visible strategy gap. The objective of the study is to propose a robust ISS development framework by discovering CBE’s current practice for the success of the bank. To this end, qualitative exploratory case study has been adopted as a research approach. Interview and document analysis have been used as a data collection method. The collected data have been analyzed using different strategy analysis tools like 7S McKinsey, PEST, and SWOT. Based on internal and external environment analysis factors like strength, weakness, opportunity, and threat for the bank have been clearly indicated as a finding of the research. Additionally, internal and external challenges for CBE IS/IT practice have been discovered in this study. The findings of the study revealed that the current ISS practice of CBE is not clear and formal. The study showed that governance problem, existence of business driver and IS/IT support strategy, and the view of the business and top management about IS/IT value are key factors for not having formal and clear ISS for CBE. This study proposed a refined ISS development framework and the framework has been evaluated using questionnaire; consequently, it acquires 87% recognition by the respondents. The proposed ISS development framework can be used by CBE as a lens to formulate and implement its ISS and to take competitive advantage on technology. Additionally, the proposed ISS development framework brings theoretical contribution to the world since it refines the existing framework by adding new dimensions like IS/IT governance, IS service management, change management, identity and access management, ISS periodic assessment, and competitive advantage. The researchers concluded that CBE faced with ISS deficiency. Finally, the researchers recommended CBE to formulate and implement ISS using the proposed solution framework in order to fix the strategy gap and to get competitive advantage on technology.Item It Service Management Agility Assessment Model: the Case of CBE(Addis Ababa University, 2020-06-06) Moges, Fiseha; Hailemariam, Getachew (PhD)Research findings show that as the maturity of implementation of IT Service Management Framework increases, the number of realized benefits also increases (Marrone and Kolbe, 2010) and getting a better agility allows companies to benefit from a faster Return on Investment (ROI) and a constant competitive advantage (Sahid, Maleh and Belaissaoui, 2017). Continually assessing IT Service Management agility and knowing the agility level is crucially important for companies to make sure that they can continually improve and ensure that they are still providing value to its customers and stakeholders. The main objective of this research is to develop an ITSM Agility Assessment Model for Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) and to test the current ITSM agility levels of the bank. A mixed method research approach using both Quantitative and Qualitative methods were employed. An ITSM Agility Assessment model was developed conceptually based on prior works on Organizational Agility Models and ITSM Best practices. Conceptually hypothesized model was developed and tested using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique and passed all reliability, validity, and structural tests. The defined constructs used to measure the ITSM Agility and the Indicators of the ITSM Agility construct itself produced a relatively similar value. This shows that, those constructs used in the ITSM Agility Assessment Model are true determinants of ITSM Agility in the organization. Using the defined model, ITSM Agility of CBE has been assessed and identified the current level of agile ITSM practice in the company. The final ITSM agility level of 3.28 was obtained and this shows that CBE is still in a transition phase towards a complete agile ITSM Practice with an overall ITSM Agility Level 2 (Wendler, 2014). This research contributes a theoretical foundation on how to assess an ITSM Agility practice in an organization and practically, CBE can use this model to regularly check its ITSM Agility levels and plan for future improvements to keep aligned with the business and technological changes and ensure efficient and effective IT Services delivery.
