Item Practices and Challenge of Stakeholder Management in the Ethiopian Construction Sector: A Case of Ethiopian Construction Design and Supervision Works Corporation(Addis Ababa University, 2021-06-27) Girma, Genet; Konjit, Hailu (Phd)This study aims to assess the stakeholder management practice and the challenges in the Ethiopian Construction industry, specifically by taking the case of Ethiopian Construction Design and Supervision Works Corporation. The objective of the study is to assess the stakeholder management practice in the sector, assess the key stakeholders of the sector and finally the challenges or critical barrier factors for effective stakeholder management practice. The study used both qualitative and quantitative approach and data were gathered through structured questionnaires distributed to employees of the corporation and in-depth key personnel interview were conducted with project managers of selected projects. This study used of descriptive research design method. The target populations of this study are project managers and employees of the company and selected organizations and stakeholders who are working with the companies. The collected data was analyzed using a statistical software called SPSS. The findings of this study highlight the practice of stakeholder management in construction projects. The data analysis revealed that the key stakeholders in the industry were customers, consultants, contractors, government agencies and businesses. The results of the survey show that most respondents argue that effective stakeholder management is critical to the success of project. Stakeholder Management Practice readiness level of the organization was found to be at level 2 or procedural. The challenges for effective stakeholder management were project planning, implementation, and stakeholder management practice. The study finally recommends the sector to develop standardized stakeholder management practice in order to reach project success. For project managers there should be continuous training regarding stakeholder management. Finally, knowledge of the new stakeholder impact strategies and supports a better understanding of how construction projects can withstand the impact of stakeholders and Project managers in developing effective project stakeholder management approaches.Item Teachers’ Practices and Challenges in the Use of Interactive White Board at the Diamond Academy Primary School(Addis Ababa University, 2022-04) Girma, Genet; Mulugeta, Fekadu (PhD)The main objective of this study was to investigate teachers practices and challenges in the Use of Interactive White Board in the case of Diamond Academy a school located in Yeka sub-city, Addis Ababa. To achieve this objective the researcher used, both quantitative and qualitative research (mixed research) method. The targeted population was purposively selected, 75 teachers and 2 school directors of Diamond Academy. Data was collected using questionnaire interview and observation. The quantitative data was analyzed using statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) while the qualitative data were analyzed in a narrative way. The study findings revealed that the factors that hinder teachers from using the interactive white board are, lack of technical support for teachers and absence of trainings from experts in using interactive white boards and also teachers lack of confidence, negative attitudes towards the IWB, time constraint, work load to prepare lessons coinciding with the IWB, lack of skill, lack of preparation were identified as challenges to use the IWB to bring the intended positive outcomes on students with the aid of the interactivity nature of the IWB. The results of this research suggest the school needs to provide technical support for teachers and increase the number of technicians. Applied pedagogical trainings from experts in using interactive white boards should be provided for teachers. School leaders should include digital tool use in teachers CPD programs.
