Abstract
The major pUlpose of the study was to investigate the current status of government and private TVET
colleges in terms of availability and proper utilization of resource facilities upon implementing IT
training programs. Accordingly, data was collected through questionnaire, ob ervation and document
analysis. A questionnaire was distributed to five government and ten private TVET colleges and
response were elicited from a total of 75 teacher respondents and 356 student respondents. For the
purpose of analysis, statistical techniques such as percentage and one-way ANOVA were employed. In
the final analysis, the study revealed that, private TVET colleges had better IT training facilities in
terms of quality and quantity in relation to the number of students enrolled in their colleges as
compared to that of government colleges. However, among other problems, both types of TVET
colleges lacked sufficient Internet connectivity and Internet services to students which should be part
of the IT training programs in the TVET system. Besides, in both types of colleges, less emphasis were
given to the practical aspect of the training program which was contrary to the methods of the
trainings set on the curriculum of the TVET Finally, based on the findings and conclusion drawn, it is
recommended that, along with other facilities both types of colleges should give more emphasis to the
practical aspects of the training and should provide Internet services to students. Mainly, government
colleges should give due attention to fulfill the required amount of training facilities that go in line
with the number of trainees enrolled in their respective colleges .
