Okote mineral prospect area is located in Hallo Kebele, Melka Soda district, West Guji zone of Oromia regional state in southern Ethiopia at about 610km south of Addis Ababa. The main purpose of this research project is to investigate characteristics and nature of gold mineralization in the area by applying integrated geophysical techniques. Many researchers did research on the area and come up with different conclusions and recommendations. The Precambrian rock units containing a wide variety of sedimentary, volcanic and intrusive rocks which have been metamorphosed to varying degrees with one to six deformation phases, and different direction trending lineaments in the area were reported by different scholars. This thesis research emphasizes the displaying of physical properties of the earth materials by using resistivity, induced polarization and magnetics techniques, which help to map the geologic features in relation to gold and associated mineralization’s in the prospect area. In addition drill hole data and prior knowledge on geology of the area are integrated to discuss and interpret the plan maps, inverted section, enhanced magnetic anomaly maps and magnetic anomaly 2D modeling along the selected profiles. The depth and lateral extension of the geological features are interpreted in detail based on the magnetic and chargeability anomalies. The high chargeability and high magnetic anomaly zones imply the presence of the sulfide mineralization’s and ferromagnesian mineralization’s respectively. Interpretation is concentrated on searching promising sites for gold and associated mineralization s. The result is correlated with the geology of the area, and borehole data. Lastly recommendations will be made regarding the prospect area.en_US
