dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study was to examine the principals’ leadership styles influence on teachers’ motivation in primary schools of Ameya woreda, in south west shoa. Hence, it examined the main of types of leadership style such as Democratic, Autocratic and Lassiefair, practice in the Ameya woreda, principals’ leadership styles influence on teachers’ motivation, and factory affecting teachers’ motivation in the study area. To accomplish this purpose, the study employed descriptive survey research design, which is supplemented by qualitative research. The study was carried out in 11randomly selected primary schools of Ameya Woreda in south west shoa zone. A total of 166 individuals participated in the study. Among them 149 teachers were included as a sample through simple random sampling technique especially lottery method, 11pirmary school principals, and 6 cluster supervisor were included by purposive sampling. Questionnaires were the main instrument of data collection. Interviews and documents analysis were also utilized to substantiate the data collected through the questionnaire. The analysis of the quantitative data was carried out by using frequency, percent, mean, correlation, and standard deviation. While data obtained through open ended questions, and interview were qualitatively analyzed. The result of the study shown that, the democratic leadership style is more positive influence on the teachers’ motivation whereas the autocratic leadership style is negative influence on teachers’ motivation. The moderate democratic, lassie-fair and autocratic are leadership style are practice leadership style in primary school of Ameya woreda. Further, low decision making encouragement of teachers, top-down system school administration, Lack of treat teachers equal, low supervisors support to teachers in both internal and external, low regular observe and absence give train for teachers, low work relationship with supervisors and PTA, poor working conditions in schools and absence of incentive and benefits for extra working in schools are main factor influence teachers motivation in primary schools. Finally the study comes up with the following recommendations: the school principals work strongly how encourage teachers in decision making and horizontal work with different responsible body, use democratic leadership style over autocratic, local education authorities and schools need to identify relevant barriers factor ,strong and smooth relationship with cluster supervisors and PTA and the woreda education and administration, the school arrange incentive and benefits for teacher and rewarding those teachers who best achieve in the schools.en_US
