Abstract
The main purpose of this study was to explore the state of educational provision and prospect of
female students with visual impairment at Addis Ababa University in the College of Law and
Governance. The method used to conduct this study was qualitative research approach with
case study design. To collect relevant data, semi-structured interview was conducted with seven
female students with visual impairment among these two of them were fifth year three of them
were forth year and two of them were third year students. The interview includes about the
educational provision, accessibility of the information, adaptive technology and challenges face
during their stay in the university. The head of the college, a teacher, the gender expert, the
teaching learning expert and special needs students‟ support expert were also purposefully
selected to participate on the interview in order to get adequate data. The data were analyzed
thematically. The findings of the study indicated that there were some teachers‟ lacking
awareness on how to give special support for female students with visual impairment, the
libraries were not nearby to their dormitory and resent books written on Braille were not
available according to their needs, and also there were only one exam room for all students with
visual impairment in the main campus and lack of exam readers at the university who were
trained for this purpose to support students with visual impairment. At the end based on the
finding, recommendations have been provided
