dc.description.abstractThe study aimed at assessing the practices in the managemen£ of farmers' training centers in Abichu Gnaa woreda, North Shoa zone, Oromia region. In the study a descriptive survey method was used. Seven (36.84 percent) farmers' training cente rs were selected by random sampling m e thod. From the seven (7) farmers training centers 43 (42 d evelopment agents and one supervisor) or 38 males and 5 females', 14 agricultural experts (12 male and 2 f e male) both re spondents were selected by availability sample technique. In addition, 35 male trainees and 6 female trainees were included using s imple random sampling technique to supplement the data gained from the practitioners. Questionnaires, interviews and observation w e re used to gather data and enrich the study. Da ta analysis was made by using perce ntile, m e an, standard deviation and chisquare. The findings revealed hindrances related to trainees, trainers and the managerial practices of farmers training centers. The respondents, none the less, listed a number of constraints like the inadequacy of resource (finance, human and materials) in the centers were far be low what they should be, that is, lack of adequate budget allocation, inadequate training m aterials, lack of community awareness, absence of income g e n e ration from the land they owned, lack of training way of adult teaching (andragogy), la ck of s equence of modules content, la ck of knowledge and skill in planning, organizing, implementation and evaluation were some of the hindrances revealed in the study. Thus, these problems made farme rs training centers to be incapable of mee ting the ir purposes and the inte re s ts of disadvantage adults' and youths. The refore, it was re commen d ed that the Oromia agricultural Bureau, zone and woreda agriculture office and w oreda administration have to make maximum possible efforts to mobilize all resources and agricultural institutions unde r them to reverse the cu rrent situation of farmers training centers.en_US
