A tetradentate Schiff base ligand was formed by the 1:2 molar condensation of Ethylenediamine and Ninhydrin and Characterized by elemental analysis, IR and UV-Vis. Spectra. Its Ni(II) complex was synthesized and characterized by analytical studies, molar conductivity, magnetic susceptibility, IR and UV-Vis. Spectra. The metal to ligand ratio is 1:1 and the metal complex is a non-electrolyte. Based on the spectral data and magnetic susceptibility measurement, dibasic ONNO donor behavior of the ligand and octahedral geometry for the brick-red colored complex have been concluded. Key Words : Ninhydrin, Ethylenediamine, Tetradentate, Schiff base, Chelating Ligand, Ni(II) Complex, Synthesis, Characterization.en_US
