Abstract

In this competitive world, organization requires employees who have the necessary skill and knowledge and experiences in order to survive the competition. Employees’ training and Managerial development are one of the methods organization use to obtain the necessary skill, knowledge and attitude. The main objective of the study was to assess the training and development practices in united bank. The bank has 65 branches located in Addis Ababa and 56 branches are located in major cities in the country. The bank employ are around 1,700 in Addis Ababa. A total 221 bank employees and 97 assistant and branch managers participated in the study. The research approach of the study was a Quantitative research. A convenient sampling was used in this study. The data was collected through interviews and questionnaire the data’s were analyzed using a descriptive analysis. The study indicates that the bank has overall good practices in the training where, majority of the employees agreed in the design, development, implementation and evaluation of the training process. However, the study also indicated that the bank does not analyze the impact of training on employees. Similarly, the study also indicates that majority of the participant agree in the design, development, implementation and evaluation of the training process. However, the bank should also have a specific training schedule and should develop procedure on evaluation the impact of training and Managerial development
