Abstract

The purpose of this study was to assess the role of leadership on organizational change in Planning and Development Commission of Ethiopia. The study employed explanatory research design and quantitative research approach. Primary data was collected from structured questionnaire and secondary data was collected from previous studies, journals, articles and books. The study used a simple random sampling technique. Accordingly, 132 questionnaires were distributed and 118 were obtained & used for further analysis. The collected data was analyzed by using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software version26. Besides, to analyze the collected data descriptive statistics (frequencies, means, and standard deviations), and multiple linear regression analysis was used. The findings of the study indicated that transformational leadership style has a positive and significant effect on organizational change in PDC. Transactional leadership style has an insignificant effect on organizational change. It is also indicated that currently, the most dominant type of leadership style is transformational leadership. Accordingly, the researcher recommended the company should continue practicing transformational leadership style which has a significant effect on organizational change and leaders should pay more attention to their employees’ individual considerations.
