The present project work aimed to study Zn, Ni, Cd and Pb concentrations in Akaki and Holeta rivers. The water samples were collected from Akaki and Holeta Rivers randomly in two months (October and December) and analyzed for the concentrations of Zn, Ni, Cd and Pb using Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (FAAS). The mean levels of Zn, Ni, Cd and Pb in the studied River water are ( 5.82±0.32, 0.4801 ± 0.04, 0.0111 ± 0.02 , BDL ) mg L-1in Akaki river and ( 0.82 ± 0.07, BDL, BDL, BDL ) in Holeta river respectively. According to this study the level of Zinc and Nickel obtained in Akaki river were higher than the level set by World Health Organization (WHO) which is alarming to risks to the human health.en_US
