Abstract
The main objective of this study was to investi gate the factors influencing the effectiv e
implementati on of CPO Program in Addis Ababa city administration. To accomplish this purpose, a
descriptive Survey method was employed. Data for the study were collected u si ng Questionnaires,
interview and documen t analysis. By Purposive sampling method from Addis Ababa city
administration, Abiyot Kirs, Oerartu Tullu and Lafto secondary schools were selected as a sample.
In the study 109 Teachers participated on filin g the questi onnaires and 15 Teachers have
Participated on interview in number 6 teache rs, 3 Unit leade rs, 3 directors, 3 sub city Educational
Experts have Participated on an interview and document analysis is also took place in selected
schools and portfolio of six teacher, two teachers from each sc hool have been seen. Data ob tained
throug h questionnaires were qualitatively described and interpreted a nd co mbin ed with the
information obtained throug h interview were qualitatively described in to supplement the
quantita tiv e data. Th e result of data analysis and interpre tation indicated that the support given to
teachers both pre-services a nd post practice was low, the supports provided for teachers after, they
started teaching and follow up-system was also very poor it was considered the only responsib ility
of the sub city T OP expertise and supervisors, the attitude of teachers towards the CPO program
was found negative, and the id ea of the teachers and directors shows contradiction on CPO
activities. On the bases of these major findings conclusions were made in chapter five. Finally
recommendations were suggested.
