dc.description.abstractThe objective of this research is to identify the major problems of women who have taken short term training from micro-Small enterprises and other training providers and currently involving in income generating activities in sample selected areas of Addis Ababa City Administration and to suggest possible recommendations. In order to gather relevant information from respondents descriptive survey method was employed. More over, four (4) sub-cities, and from each one kebele were selected by using simple random sampling method. Two hundred and ten (210) women beneficiary (WE) and twenty (20) Micro-Small Enterprise OffiCials (MSEO) are selected by using simple random and purposive sampling methods respectively. Based on the basic questions of the study, the collected data through two main groups of questionnaires are analyzed and interpreted. The research results revealed that raising income levels through income generating activities for poor women was not sufficient. This is largely attributed to lack of appropriate training, lack of productive training experience, addressing insufficient starting capital and above all, lack of working and marketing places are the crucial problems. Therefore, giving appropriate training, which is supported by practice, accessing these women to credit schemes, addressing conducive working and marketing places are essentials for the sustainability of women income generating activities.en_US
