dc.description.abstract | In the course of this project, the synthesis of polyquinoxaline copolymers was attempted. Monomer 5,7-bis(5-bromothiophen-2-yl)-2,3-bis(5-butylthiophen-3- yl)thieno[3,4-b]pyrazine (51) was synthesized successfully. Two copolymers based on quinoxaline and fluorene derivatives were synthesized by using Suzuki coupling polymerization reaction. These were, poly(2,3-bis-(5-butyl-thiophen-2- yl)-5-[5-(9,9-dioctyl-9H-fluorene-2-yl)-thiophen-2-yl]-8-thiophen-2-yl-quinoxaline) (59) and poly(2,3-bis-(5-butyl-thiophen-2-yl)-5-[5-(9,9-dibenzyl-9H-fluoren-2-yl)- thiophen-2-yl]-8-thiophen-2-yl-quinoxaline) (61). These polymers were characterized by 1H- and 13C-NMR spectra, UV-Vis spectra and cyclic voltammetery. Attempts also made to prepare cyclopentadithiophene starting from 3-bromothiophen.
