Abstract

If hea\y ions react with nuclei, they can be excited to high spin states. This excitation then usual\~' is followed by an emission of a few nucleons and ganuna-ravs. The gamma-lines Ii'om this hea\.y-ion nuclear reaction undergo Doppler shiH because the nuclei produced in the reaction experience a recoil which is capable of incurring a shift on the lines. To study this reature of gamma lines, which is often done in hea\·y-ion gatmna-ray works. especially in lltctime measurements of nuclear excited states. an analysis of ganuna-spectra hom the readion SlSe ( - Li ,xn'{ ) measured at 35'" 31', 90°, I·n° and 1450 with respect to the beam ( , ( '{ "( ( [ , ( , direction has been done.
