Abstract

The study are apresent sex posuresr a n g i n g i n a ge from the Precam bria n ( b a s e m e n t ) t h r o u g h M e s o z o i c (s e d i m e n t s) t o t h e T e r t i a r y ( v o l c a n i cs) w it h a l l u v i a l s e d i m e n t s o f r e c e n t a g e a l s o p r e s e n t. T h e U p p e r S a n d st o n e U n i t i s a p a r t o f t h e. Y e s o m m a s e q u e n c e a n d i s o f C r e t a c e ou s a g e i n H i r n a a r e a. Tectonically , Hirna area is only lightly deformed , with a SW - NE fault trend dominating the structures. Other trends , however , do exist with not so clear a relationship with the dominant, trend. Gentle dips of local significance are shown by some of the Phanerozoic lithologies.
