dc.description.abstractThe aim of this work was to study the effect of conducting properties of polybromocresol purple (PBCP) in the determination of o-aminophenol. Cyclic Voltammetry (CV) and Differential pulse Voltammetry (DPV) are employed in this study. The electrochemical oxidation of ortho-amino phenol was carried out using a PBCP/GC electrode in aqueous acid medium. A glassy carbon electrode is modified with polybromocresol purple (PBCP) over potential range of -1.5 V - 1.6 V. O-aminophenol was studied by using cyclic voltammetry at different scan rates in the potential range of -0.1 V to 0.7 V. The results indicated that the oxidation reaction of the oaminophenol at the modified glassy carbon electrode is irreversible and controlled by diffusion. Under the optimum conditions, the differential pulse voltammetric current of the sensor was linear in the concentration range of 1-100 μM with a detection limit of 0.21 μM. The modified electrode was capable to quantify o-aminophenol in the presence of common interferences and of detection in the tap water.en_US
