Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the participation of female trainees in
TVET colleges in South Wallo Zone. The study was aimed to examine the
participation of female trainees in relation to the support given namely library
usage, renting houses, sexual harassment tutorial support and its
implementation, guidance and counseling service. To this end, both quantitative
and qualitative research method were employed for the study. The sample for
TVET colleges was selected from Amhara Region South Wollo Zone, namely, W / ro
Sihin and Kombolcha TVET colleges. These sample TVET Colleges were selected
on the basis of availability sampling technique. The subjects of the study were
207 trainees, 49 trainers, 3 deans and 2 guidance and counselors. Purposive
and the availability sampling techniques were employed to select the colleges
and respondents. Questionnaires, interviews and document analysis were used
to gather the data. The data obtained were analyzed through statistical method
(Percentage and mean score). The general result of the study revealed that there
are factors that impede the participation of female trainees in connection with
renting houses, guidance and counseling services tutorial ser.vices, harassment
and the like. It is recommended that boarding school services should be given by
the colleges, and female affairs committee should be established to find possible
solutions. It is also advised to design a tutorial program at TVET level, especially
for f emale trainees.
