Two anthraquinones: physion( 6) and emodin( 7) are isolated from the chloroform extract of Senna occidentalis pod. It also afforded one bianthraquinone: 5,7’- biphysion and anthraquinone derivative: trihydroxy-methoxy-methylanthraquinone, which are partially characterized. Several trace anthraquinones were also isolated. The compounds are identified on the basis of their color reactions and spectroscopic data.en_US
