Abstract
This study aimed at assessment of applications of Human Resources Information System (HRIS) being practiced in Ethiopian Airlines at HR department. The study adopted a quantitative research approach and used primary data source. The primary data was collected from 77 staffs in HR department selected using a simple random sampling from HR department of 140 HR staff. A primary data was gathered through questionnaires. A simple random sampling was used to select respondents from the HR staff. As a finding, the results indicate that the extent of application of HRIS being practiced in Ethiopian Airlines is considered to be moderate. The results also indicate that the most frequent application of HRIS in the organizations was found to be in “compensation management and followed by “employee record”, “performance management “ and “recruitment/selection “ As a finding working under HR department lacks knowledge to operate HRIS system and unable to use the system in full services capacity. The application of HRIS in Ethiopian Airlines at HR department is also challenged by inadequate training or capacity building of employees, absence of continuous IT support and other related factors.
