Doors leading to the making of this thesis appeared when my advisor mentioned the willingness of law students to study French language, several students used to come knock at the door of the French unit begging to learn French. My advisor has suggested that I study the reasons for this recurrent willingness. Through time, the shape of my research changed and gave birth to this title ‘’L’introduction de l’enseignement de la langue française: le cas de l’école de droit de l’université d’Addis Abeba’’ The Ethiopian modern legal system and the French language have a long history. The group of experts who came to Ethiopia spoke French and the first version of the current Civil Code was written in French. Back in the days, legal French was part of the Addis Abeba university law school curriculum. A glimpse at the making of the Ethiopian Civil Code and the legal system, the different law school curriculums will be made. Afterwards, it will be followed by a section dedicated to the analysis, where the different interviews and questionnaires will be examined in depth. According to our findings, teaching French language to law students in Ethiopia is feasible and also desirable overall.en_US
