Abstract
In this thesis tropospheric and stratospheric CO have been derived from FTIR spectrometer
and analyzed since May 17, 2009. All the sources of error indicate that it is not
too much to cause signi cant error in our result. The degree of freedom (DOFs) for CO
is nearly 3 which means there are about 3 independent pieces of information from the
measurement. The measurement is more sensitive to lower atmosphere than upper atmosphere.
The minimum and maximum mixing ratio of CO in the troposphere have been
observed in November 2009 and January 2010 respectively while the stratosphere CO
VMR is minimum in May 2009 and maximum in February 2010. Inter-annual variation
has been detected through a relative increase in CO VMR of May 2010 compared to May
2009. Our results have also shown that the enhancement of O3 in conjunction with the
enhancement of CO is associated with plumes in the upper troposphere on December 08,
2009. While stratosphere-troposphere exchange contributed to the enhancement of O3 in
the upper troposphere when lowest CO VMR is seen on January 21, 2010
