dc.description.abstractThe construction industry has been perceived as a male dominated sector and is linked to the requirement for physical strength and adaptability to challenging outside working circumstances. Fortunately, women have been observed working in the construction sectors over the years. Nonetheless, obstacles and difficulties still confront women working in the construction sector. Examining the lived experiences of unskilled women working in the construction sector and identifying the main challenges, opportunities, and coping mechanism of these women are the objectives of this study. This study was conducted using a qualitative approach that involved interview, observation, and document review. Participants with previous experience in the construction sector were specifically chosen through the use of purposive sampling. According to the findings, unskilled female workers faced both personal and workplace related obstacles. Despite the industry's male dominance and the gender based discrimination that female workers experienced, there are still opportunities for workers to have employment opportunities and economic advantages. Along with the opportunities and difficulties, the participants employed coping mechanisms, both positive and negative, to deal with the different difficulties they encountered. Finally, the study provides long-term and short-term recommendations based on the findings.
