| dc.description.abstract | Many researches have been done to determine the economic, social and legal aspect of early marriage. However, the psychosocial impact of this issue seems to be a neglected aspect. This study is therefore carried out in an attempt to explore the existing psychological impact early marriage is causing on female adolescents' self-view and life-view and how it exposes them to stressful life events. It is assumed to disclose the female adolescents' view towards themselves as a mother and its negative implication for their psychological growth. The study took place in 'Mosebo' Peasant Association of 'Yilimana Densa Woreda ' in West Gojam. Initially, an attempt was made to describe the main sources of stress and how it hurts their self view, life view and self esteem on the adolescents' psychological jimctioning. Accordingly, early childhood marriage, frightening sexual experience, leaving parents at tender age, household responsibility, and getting pregnant are identified as the major traumatic factors they pass through. To achieve the objectives, 6 female girls through convenient sampling have been chosen. Qualitative method was employed to collect the respondents view. Moreover, those stressors are categorized under three themes:- b~rore marriage, during wedding and after wedding. Finally, their stress by itself needs future research and the impact it may hold on the cognitive development of their children is recommended. Further, the results are presented with possible explanations. At last, conclusions and suggestions are made in the light of the finding. | en_US |
