Abstract
The study aims at finding out the role of labor union in maintaining good industrial relation in Horizon Addistire Share Company. Labor unions play an important role and helpful in the industrial relations between the employee and management. The main objective of the research is to examine the role of labor union in maintaining good industrial relation in Horizon Addis tire Share Company. The descriptive research design is undertake by using closed-ended questionnaire and purposively structured interviews. Both quantitative and qualitative data collecting techniques are used in this research. The research is based on the responses of the various levels of union members, HR departments, and Line managers who are working in the corporation. The data is planning to collect from 204 respondents by using self-administered close- ended questionnaire andinterviewed different leaders, to analyze data from the questioner SPSS technique is apply. Based on this the analysis is carried out. The finding shows that the general role of the labor union prevails in the corporation are good. But according to the union member’s response the involvement of labor union in the improvement of better wage at low level. Besides, the collective bargaining procedures implement in the corporation are found at fair level but not give confidence. Good part of the labor union in the corporation is that the union is committed to handle employee relation, which will minimize industry disputes and maintain peace. In conclusion, the overall role of the labor union in maintaining employment benefit and better wage of the corporation is found at a low level which is not encouraging. Though, the role of the labor union in the corporation is moderately good, but it needs improvement
