Abstract
Copper (II) complex of N, N-Bis (salicylidene)-2, 4-dihydroxy-5-
acetylacetophenone dihydrazone (BSDAAD) was synthesized and
characterized by conductivity and magnetic susceptibility measurements,
analytical data, IR, UV-Vis and AAS spectroscopic techniques. The Schiff
base BSDAAD, was synthesized by the condensation of 2, 4-dihydroxy-5-
acetylacetophenone dihydrazone (DAAD) and salicylaldehyde, and
characterized by MS, IR, and UV-Vis spectroscopic techniques. The
ligand behaves as symmetric, tetrabasic bis-tetradentate system through
ONNO donor sequence. The coordination results in a distorted
(elongation) octahedral geometry. Subnormal magnetic moment of the
dinuclear complex suggests antferromagnetic interaction between the
metal ion centers through a possible super exchange mechanism.
