Abstract

This study explores the evaluation of the implementation of the grade 11 civics and ethical education by using the process (goal-fee mode) in three selected government high schools of Addis Ababa region. The aim of the study was to examine how far the grade 11 civics and ethical education syllabus was performed by teachers and students in cooperation with school administration. What factors have hindered the performance. The study also tries to investigate how much the civics and ethical education learning has effectively caused better behavior development towards Civics and Ethical Education. Finally it attempts to convey the findings the study through recommendation to the concerned bodies. The descriptive survey method is employed in the study. Regardless of the school size and number of respondents, the model at~ to take into account questions raised by this research. \ J The findings show that there was lack of knowledge about curriculum materials on the part of teachers, ineffective communication among teachers and the school administration and inconvenient school facilities were identified as barriers for syllabus implementation. Students response indicated they have not developed better feelings towards civics and ethical education. In conclusion, grade 11 civics and ethical education syllabus was not properly implemented and students have not developed better behavior towards the subject
