dc.description.abstract | The traditional way of helping has been the source of support for society where modern counseling is at its infantile stage. The main objective of the present study is to examine closely the nature of traditional Oromo marriage counseling at pre-marriage, in/post marriage and at the divorce levels. The study follows a qualitative research paradigm. Moreover, it is viewed from the Oromo world-views. The data were collected from ni,;eteen informants selected by purposive and 'snowball ' method to be presented and interpreted based on the basic research questions. Consequently, the findings have showed that Traditional Oromo Marriage Counseling is still viable and effective in its goal, contents, and techniques. The study is interdisciplinary in its approach and so is the traditional Oromo marriage counseling inclusive and foture-oriented. The study has shown that the counseling practice works in line with the socio-cultural and institutional needs of the society.
