Abstract

HIV and AIDS is a pandemic that is deadly and hard to control. It extremely concerns human being in that it affects economic, social and cultural development of the society. In Ethiopia, the epidemic has been tragically snatching the lives of our people since its appearance about twenty years ago. Quite a lot of children have been left with out a mother or a father or both. The number of orphans accounts for about 1.2 million in 2001. It is highly associated with stigma and discrimination. The society understood stigma and discrimination poorly. The existing programs attempt to address mainly the problems of adults. Researches that reveal stigma and discrimination in connection with AIDS orphans are unavailable. Such situation necessitated the undertaking of this research
