    Determinants of Capital Structure in Airline Industry: An Empirical Study on Major Airlines in Africa

    Airline Industry is very dynamic, competitive, highly capital intensive and critical for sustainability. This study examines internal factors affecting the capital structure of five major airlines in Africa. It also explores the applicable capital structure theories used in determining capital structure using sixteen-year data from year 2002-2017.The study used quantitative method research approach by using secondary data from audited financial statements and other officially published documents. To deliver the most reliable factors fixed effect model was applied. The findings of the study show that profitability, liquidity, growth opportunity have statistically significant and negative relationship with leverage, firm size has a significant and positive relationship with leverage. Lease financing, Collateral value of asset and non-debt tax shield also have negative relationship with leverage but the result was insignificant. Finally, it is recommended African airlines to focus internal factors affecting the capital structure and to focus internal financing sources before demanding external financing sources, furthermore it ecommended to use the most applicable peaking order theory as a guide line when determining the capital structure in order to maintain sustainability, add value and develop in the industry by avoiding in liquidity and bankruptcy problems.

    The Effect of Strategic Human Resource Management Practices on Organizational Performance: A Case Study of Commercial Bank of Ethiopia Bole District

    The goal of this research was to investigate the impact of strategic human resource strategies on organizational performance at the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia. Vertical integration of HR and the bank's business strategy, consistency and congruence of HRM processes, high quality of employees and internal practices, and overall performance of Commercial Bank of Ethiopia are all evaluated in this regard. Integration of HR with the organization's business plan should be studied in order to maximize service quality and productivity. According to studies, integrating HR with the organizational business plan has a positive impact on organizational performance. This investigation's exploration structure is straightforward and illustrative. A questionnaire was distributed to 222 respondents from the Bole District and CBE branches. The survey used a five-point Likert scale. To investigate the acquired data, illuminating insights such as standard deviation, mean, recurrence, and rate were used. The data was analyzed using correlation analysis (Karl Pearson).The major findings of this study suggested that strategic human resource strategies had a moderate impact on the overall organizational performance of the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia. As a result, in order to enhance the bank's total performance, the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia must improve its strategic human resource practices based on strategic human resource management principles.
